Fla. Gov. Games the 08 Race

Filed under: Uncategorized — Geneva @ 1:41 pm
In the New York Times there is an article explaining how Charlie Crist, Florida’s Republican  governor doesn’t think that Obama will do well in Florida.

“I think Floridians are pretty mainstream,” Mr. Crist continued. “I’m not sure Senator Obama is. I believe some group rated him as the most liberal Senator. I don’t think that will go over well in Florida.”                     Gov. of Florida

I think the only reason he believes  this is because he really wants McCain to win.

Obama Spends Big in April, but Doesnt Score a Knock Out

In the New YorkTimes there is an article explaining how Obama spending is getting a little out of hand.  Obama has spent more than he raised in April trying to knock off Clinton in the Pennsylvania, Indiana, and the North Carolina primaries.

But Obama spent $36.4 million over the course of the month — about $4 million more than he raised during the same time — as he tried to sew up the nomination. Despite outspending Clinton in Pennsylvania and Indiana, he lost both contests.

I think he is doing what he thinks he should. If he puts money into a state primary and doesn’t win then that is just a risk he will have to take.

Keeping Vow on Obama, McCain Adviser Resigns

In the New York Times there is an article that explains how McCain’s adviser resigned. He resigned because of a vow he made months ago not to work against the candidacy of Obama.

“This is not about neutrality,” the adviser said. “I think this really pains him, but he made a commitment to do something.”

I think it is funny how everyone is dropping their candidates and choosing to be on Obama’s side.

Obama’s April Fund-Raising Passes 31 Million

In the New York Times there is an article that explains the success of Obama.  In April’s fund-raising Obama raised 31.3 million and ending the month with more money then both Clinton and McCain.

Over all, Mr. Obama has raised $268 million, and he has spent it liberally in the battle for the Democratic nomination.

Honestly I am extremely proud of Obama and hope he becomes our next President.

Clinton Sees Many Reasons to Stay In

In the New York Times Hilary Clinton explains how she is going to continue to stay in the race until June. Although many people including her friends are advising her to drop out, she is still certain that she might be a nominee.

And in her victory speech in Louisville, Ky., on Tuesday night, Mrs. Clinton made a pointed appeal, telling her supporters she would keep campaigning until there was a Democratic nominee — “whoever she may be.”

All I can say is Hilary is one courageous woman.

Mine Workers Union Backs Obama

Filed under: Uncategorized — Geneva @ 12:23 pm
In the New York Times there is an article explaining how Obama keeps receiving endorsements and more support. Barack Obama received another endorsement from the United Mine Workers of America.

“At this point, the debate is between Senator Obama and Senator McCain, and when it comes to those two, it’s very clear to us which candidate is going to be on our side,” said Phil Smith, the union’s communications director.

Great! Obama is on a roll and people are starting to see who the better candidate is.

D.C. Journalist Joins Obama Campaign

In the New York Times  there is an article that explains how Linda Douglas is leaving the National journal to travel with Barack Obama as a secretary and adviser.

“I’ve covered government and politics all my life,” she said. “I just thought I couldn’t possibly sit on the sidelines any more.”

Wow, I think it  great that Obama is gettting more and more supporters.

Women Adandoning Obama in the fall?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Geneva @ 8:47 pm
In You Decide 2008 there is a question of whether or not women are going to be for or against Barack Obama. According to Clinton support Geraldine Ferraro they will be abandoning Obama, in favor of McCain.

Some people are voting for Clinton because she is a woman, just as many people are voting for Obama because he is half black.                        - response made by someone

Honestly I have to say that I agree with the statement made. The only reason people are voting for Hilary is because she is a woman and the only reason people are voting for Obama  is because he is black.  In my opinion that is not a good reason to vote for someone, vote for someone because of what they stand for.

Kentucky, Oregon voting today!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Geneva @ 8:39 pm
In You Decide 2008 it explains how both Kentucky and Oregon are voting today. As we understand Hilary already won Kentucky which was predictable so now its Obama’s turn. There is no doubt that Obama will take Oregon.

Senator Barack Obama would like to begin shutting down the nominating contest with Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton on Tuesday night as two more states — Kentucky and Oregon — hold their primaries. But he wants to do it subtly.

Everyone knows that Hilary Clinton was going to win Kentucky but there is no way she is going to win Oregon also.

Bush Pays respects victims of China quake

In Yahoo news Bush pays his respects to the victims of China.

“We stand with you during this tragic moment as you mourn the loss of so many of your loved ones and search for those still missing,” Bush wrote.

I think that was very generous for President Bush to go and pay his respects. The people of China have been through a lot and with support of the U.S. they will get through it.
