New Law Shields Children From Prostitution Charges
New York has finally passed a bill that is overviewed here. The bill allows underage children to not be charge with prostitution. This would be based on if they cooperated in catching there pimp, or trafficker. There has been much debate about this bill in New York for a long time but it has finally been passed. It was passed along with a number of other bills. This bill though hopes to get under-age children prostitutes off the street, along with their pimps. Who knows if this crack down comes as a result of the prostitution ring Elliot Spitzer had.
I think this bill is a good idea for both the children, but also law enforcement. They may not be getting a flood of children coming in to help smoke out their pimps. It will help to put those responsible for such acts behind bars. It is also nice that the state thought about the fact that jailing these children before was punishment on top of their possible abuse.
