Obama Ties McCain to Republican Philosophy
This week in politics Senator Barack Obama is really trying to show off Senator John McCain’s strong connection to President George Bush. When you think about it a connection to the president shouldn’t be negative but in this case we are. President George Bush is so unpopular that Obama is using him to against McCain to gain more supporters. It’s the old: if you’re with McCain you’re with Bush as well. This is not completely untrue though. They are both republicans and according to Obama they both believe in trickledown economics. This means that both McCain and Bush believe in giving money to millionaires and billionaires and the money will trickle down on everyone else. In this scenario Obama is putting the spotlight on the middle class, showing that Bush/McCain don’t care about the middle class (while Obama does.) This article shows Obama in Denver, where he first accepted his nomination two months ago. Later in the article Obama does say “The American people don’t want to hear politicians attack each other — you want to hear about how we’re going to attack the challenges facing middle class families each and every day.” I was very pleased to hear this and hope that Obama can stick to this and tell us what he’s really about. Obama will give a closing argument on Monday in Ohio. There is only two or so more weeks of campaigning before Election Day.
